Court upholds AIG penalty
A THREE-judge panel of the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld an arbitration ruling for US Life Insurance, a unit of US government-controlled AIG, to pay $443.5m in reinsurance claims to five operating units of Superior National Insurance Cos, the California-based workers’ compensation carriers that were placed into liquidation in 2000.
