The group’s auto & home insurance division saw Q2 operating income rise 46% to $76m owing to a drop in catastrophe losses. The p/c operation had a combined ratio of 88% on written premiums of $747m, down 1%. For the six months, MetLife swung to a net loss of $2bn from a year-earlier gain of $1.53bn, as realized investment losses jumped to $4.74bn from $1.09bn.
