Ambrey launches war risk insurer
Ambrey Global Specialty will function as Lloyd’s coverholder
MS Amlin among backers of new managing general agent
MARITIME risk management consultancy Ambrey is entering the marine war risk insurance space with the launch of a new specialist managing general agent, Ambrey Global Specialty.
AGS — as it will be known — will operate a Lloyd’s “coverholder”, which means that it is authorised to write policies on the back of capacity provided by a panel of Lloyd’s of London insurers led by MS Amlin.
AGS will specialise in spot breach marine hull war risks insurance, using Ambrey’s existing data and insights to provide intelligence-led risk mitigation and financial security for shipowner clients operating in high-risk areas.
Ambrey is one of the largest providers of risk management services to the global maritime industry, with a 15-year track record in forecasting, monitoring and reducing risk to shipping.
The firm has expertise in terrorism, war risks, narcotics, migration, piracy and a range of other marine perils.
The launch of AGS comes after Ambrey’s creation of a new global operations centre in Southampton.
AGS managing director Nick Maddalena said: “AGS launches at a time of considerable geopolitical instability in the world.
“Ambrey’s digital services will be embedded in our marine war risks insurance offering to support our clients in navigating the world’s most volatile areas safely and in the knowledge that their operations are insured with the financial security of Lloyd’s of London.”
